Weird and Wonderful Wood

The weather was very kind to us and brought the crowds in. Figures quoted were that over 5000 attended on the Saturday and it looked as though more than that attended on Sunday. It was interesting to note that on Saturday the people were tending to buy things whereas on Sunday they seemed to be there for the day out and to be entertained. Having said that we were kept very busy on the Tombola.

The photo above shows some of the crowds and the Tombola table before the crowds descended. The next photo shows some spectators interested in John French demonstrating. John was spelled by Mike Charnley and Ian Cameron throughout the day on the lathe. John Gladders, Maurice Elliston, Mike Charnley, Ian Cameron, John Woods and Geoff Moss were kept busy on the Tombola. The most difficult bit was finding the turning with the winning ticket number on.

Hard work for two days but worth it for the publicity it gives the Club and finally thank you for donations to the Tombola.
